"This was the second time I attended Hi Kidz camp. I made many friends here, participated in dramas, and learned new songs. I learned to do needlework and crafts. At the Bible lessons, we heard about God and true stories about His people. I asked Christ for forgiveness. Since then I have been attending Sunday school. I want my mother to come to the church with me. Thank you for the camp! "
“When I arrived at camp, I was disobedient to the point of making the other children and counselors cry. I was almost sent home, but the counselors prayed for me and a miracle happened – I became well behaved and kind towards others.”
“I have never been at a camp before. Here, I made many new friends and learned about Jesus’ love. I’ve never been so happy in my life.”
A densely mountainous country, Tajikistan was conquered and ruled by a series of invaders, starting in 333 B.C with Alexander the Great. In the 7th and 8th centuries, Arabs invaded the region, followed by Uzbeks and Afghans, until claimed by Russia in the 1860s.
The Tajiks became part of the Soviet Union in 1925, and remained a republic of the USSR until the collapse of communism in the early 1990s. Soon after, the country experienced a civil war between regional factions, which went on until 1997. Tajikistan remains one of the poorest nations in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It became part of Hi Kidz in 1994.
