  • 450 needy Hungarian children, Hungarian minority orphans and underprivileged kids in Ukraine and Serbia benefited from our humanitarian outreach: distribution of clothing, food, books, personal hygienic items and school supplies.
  • 1000 copies of our magazine were distributed to the children
  • 10-20 children listened to the weekly telephone stories
  • 73 workers received training
  • 52 volunteers

What children say:

“I’ll never forget the camp in Scotland: the company, the kindness of local people, and the conversations about Jesus with our leaders.”

“At camp, I decided to follow Jesus and open my heart to Him. The personal relationship with Jesus that I developed at the camp is still alive and strong to this day.”

“I am very thankful to Hi Kidz leaders, who did not give up and kept encouraging me.”

Background:

AChristian kingdom in 1000 A.D., Hungary eventually became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which collapsed during World War I. Following World War II, Hungary fell, like other Eastern European countries, under the communist rule of the USSR. Though the population revolted in 1956 against the Soviet-imposed policies, it was crushed by a massive military intervention from Moscow. Nevertheless, in 1968 Hungary started liberalizing its economy, introducing so-called "Goulash Communism," which included elements of relative economic and political freedoms. Since the collapse of communism in the early 1990s, Hungary forged ahead with a free market economy and joined the European Union in 2004.
